What is Men’s Shed?
The Shed provides a place for blokes to meet informally and safely to do ‘hands-on’ stuff together or individually; it’s always good to meet people and make new friends. Current activities include woodworking, computing and electronics, metalworking, blacksmithing, furniture restoration, chat and banter.
If you’re completely new to this kind of activity, we can buddy you up with someone more experienced until you get the hang of it. We also run courses occasionally, such as canoe-making, wood turning carpentry and computing.
Put your skills to good use. We have a wide range of tools available on site and we’re always looking for men with skills they would like to share. Our activities are many and varied and are often changing. Get in touch if you feel you may have something to offer.
How do I become a Shedder?
Any man is welcome to visit us during our public opening times (see back panel) and have a look around. You’ll receive a warm welcome, a tour of the Shed and a cuppa. If you decide you’d like to use the Shed regularly, we’ll ask you to complete a membership form and the induction process. This is simply to ensure that you know how to use the equipment properly without supervision.
We have a few basic rules:
- Health and Safety is a top priority
- We respect each other at all times
- You must be over 18
We don’t accept drink or drugs on the premises or allow members to enter the Shed intoxicated
- Everyone is equal
- Everyone is welcome
If it sounds like your kind of thing then why not drop in and find out what it is all about, or contact us for more information or any questions.
