MensCraft initially set up and ran Norwich Men's Shed in 2013 - we later became an independent CIO in 2017. While we are two separate organisations, we are currently based at the same premises and work collaboratively with the common aim of promoting men’s wellbeing..

FAQs:

  • • We are currently unable to accept new members – if you are interested in future membership we can add your email details to our waiting list and will contact you when applications reopen.

• We operate as a membership cooperative – we do not have any paid support staff and are unable to offer a support service or take referrals from other agencies.

• Norwich Men’s Shed is a small charity with limited resources – in addition to a nominal membership fee all members are expected to help with the running and maintenance of the Shed.

• Due to reduced capacity, we are currently unable to take in any new public commissions or community projects.

• We are grateful for all offers of donated materials or equipment, but can only accept items that we are able to use – please contact us in advance to arrange drop-off of any donations.

Background

With minimal paid staff, Norwich Men's Shed operates as a skills-sharing cooperative and is reliant upon members giving generously of their time to staff the premises and enable opening. Originally set up in 2013 by MensCraft, we later became an independent CIO (charity no. 1171796) – our organisations continue to work in partnership to promote men’s wellbeing at Norwich Men’s Centre.

We are grateful for support from Norwich Charitable Trusts, Norwich City Council, National Lottery Awards for All and Norfolk Community Foundation (Birketts Fund, Septagon Fund and Paul Bassham Charitable Trust).
